ABSTRACT

Th ere is a vast gulf between foster and adoptive applicants who have had experience with children and those who have had none. Yet, the basic premise of foster and adoptive parenting is that everyone has the potential to be successful at it. As a screener, you should not discriminate against a couple because they have no birth children, or because they have had no experience with friends’ or relatives’ children, but that does not mean that you should not give added points to applicants who do report experience along those lines.
