ABSTRACT

In the screening process, there may be some concern about the intellectual abilities of the applicant. Memory, specifi c academic skills, or other cognitive concerns may warrant a formal evaluation. A parent’s intellectual and academic abilities are very important. Parents are expected to be the support system for their children. Th ey are expected to be the homework tutor and to remember all the facts and fi gures they learned in grade school. As a chauff er, they must juggle their own schedules to be available to transport their children from one venue to the next. Although millions of parents with low-average-to-borderline intelligence function very well as parents, they usually encounter more social challenges than parents who have higher intelligence.
