ABSTRACT
U.S. society has undergone a great deal of change in the past few decades. Social and cultural trends have changed how we date and mate, subsequently creating a lot of confusion in dating and mating. Although most people want to share their lives with someone, they are at a loss for how to do so. In this chapter we first examine some factors that negatively affect dating and mating among African Americans. We then provide strategies for dating and factors to consider when choosing a partner.
