ABSTRACT
This research project implemented a qualitative research design and methodology in order to reach an in-depth understanding of the social phenomena of gender inequality. Three objectives guided this research:
• To examine the social construction of gender within the gendered institutions of family and school, through interviews eliciting attitudes and behavior of community members, parents/guardians, teachers, and head teachers in Jiri.
