ABSTRACT

The individual or community with a hybrid identity mimics the result of globalization: the squeezing of the world community with a simultaneous expansion of the world community. Hybridity1 has become one way to recreate and re-vision a community, while incorporating elements of outside groups. A hybrid identity forms when elements of two or more cultures are merged and thereby create a new cultural identity. The hybrid occupies partial identities, multiple roles, and pluralistic selves.
