ABSTRACT

Many dyslexic students will, before they reach college, already have had assessments indicating that they are dyslexic and making suitable recommendations. Not all dyslexic students, however, will have received such assessments (see note 3.1). We have come across plenty of students, particularly older ones, whose dyslexia has been recognised only after the start of their college courses. In some cases tutors or lecturers have suggested to students that they might be dyslexic on the basis of their essays or other written work; in some cases the students themselves have wondered if they are dyslexic and have come forward for assessment.
