ABSTRACT
While the history of television news has been well documented, there is a part of it that has not been recorded. That is from 1987 and the rise of videojournalists. So this chapter tells the story of some of those early pioneers. They include me. We were all ready and willing to try out something new, to pick up cameras and ‘have a go’. As you have read in the previous chapter, the timing was right, events were happening that needed covering, the cameras and the technology were there and so were the people.
