ABSTRACT

There are two schools of thought about people in project management. One group believe that science and technology can aid the project manager in motivating and controlling a team. The other attitude is that dealing with people is a natural thing and that most people will motivate themselves if given half a chance. I am firmly in camp two. Most people, given half a chance, enjoy their work and get on with whatever they should be getting on with. All that is needed is for the manager to give them the opportunity to do exactly that.
