ABSTRACT

Among all the influences on the young Piaget that contributed to his spiritual, moral, and intellectual development and that he drew on and referred to, one influence is especially important: that of Pierre Bovet. Behind this person lay the entire milieu of Grandchamp and a cluster of people who formed a true network of intellectual dialogue whose echo can be discerned in some revealing texts about Piaget’s journey. I would like to evoke this magisterial milieu and try to identify the steps of the student’s progressive distancing of himself from it, and, in so doing, to describe a more general problem.
