ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews the basic practices of the EFT therapist. The three primary tasks of the EFT approach are described and the interventions used to accomplish these tasks are reviewed. Exercises help the reader both distinguish the different interventions and practice their use with case material. Gaining a detailed understanding of these interventions is an important step in understanding how the EFT process unfolds. Mastery of these in-session practices enables the therapist to effectively engage couples through the nine steps of EFT.
