Working with Angry and Aggressive Youth
Over the past decade, the world has become accustomed to seeing scenes of youth aggression and violence in the mainstream media such as the murder of a school principal, an intruder attacking a classroom, hostages held inside a school, or the massacre at Columbine High School. Events such as these have challenged our beliefs that children are safe at school. However, despite the powerful media coverage of violence in schools today, these events are actually rare. In fact, reports from the National School Safety Center (2001) show a decline in school homicide of 63% over the past 19 years.
