ABSTRACT

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is complex, as each individual with an ASD presents unique sets of characteristics that are truly distinctive to his or her own being. Children and adolescents with ASD often experience dysfunction and discord in their family unit, in their school life, as well as within their own personal world. However, despite the unique nature of ASD, school-based clinicians having a strong knowledge base regarding the nature of ASDs, as well as a combination of the scientific principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and the clinical framework of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), are likely to contribute to effective interventions and treatment in the schools and in home settings.
