ABSTRACT
It has been a challenging experience for me to review my own career and try to write objectively about it—to review the complex motivations; the issues of chance and opportunity; and most particularly how people in everyday life, both those close to me and those famous, have influenced me. I recognize that what I have written is from this time and place and is just one view of this particular part of my life and work experience.
