ABSTRACT

The ideal divorce scenario involves no children and an ex-spouse who moves overseas. Unfortunately, reality is that financial, parenting, and emotional battles continue after the divorce. More than 50 percent of ex-spouses remain angry 10 years after the divorce. The ex-spouse is a greater stress on the second marriage than stepchildren. In this chapter, we will look at the type of relationship people commonly have with their ex-spouse and offer some guidelines for thinking about and dealing with an ex-spouse. The goal is to move on with your life and focus your energy on the present.
