ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a view of the controversy about the generation of lists of empirically supported treatments. Few issues have divided the worlds of science and practice as the generation of such lists. Although listings of empirically supported treatments are becoming more commonplace (Chambless & Ollendick, 2001; Nathan & Gorman, 2003; Ollendick & Davis, 2004), the level of controversy today remains as great as when the first such lists were issued.
