ABSTRACT
My goal in this chapter is to develop a better understanding of the relationship between culture, in particular political values, and political development. In this analysis I frequently refer to Argentina, a country whose history of “de-development” (it was rich around 1900, relatively poor around 2000) presents a rich laboratory of relevant experience.
