ABSTRACT
Anyone can end up in an abusive relationship. Intelligence, background, upbringing, nancial status, race, class, or any other individual factors are unrelated to who may abuse and who may become involved in an abusive relationship. However, the messages potential abusers receive from society may play an important role both in who becomes an abuser and in how abusive relationships develop.
