ABSTRACT

This chapter consists of two sections. The first section considers how the human being can be seen as a person who is at the same time subject (I) and object (Me), where the I is capable of reflection on, and construction of, the Me. Within this viewpoint, six fundamental I-questions can be seen as the foundation of a therapeutically workable and living personality model. While dialectic movements can be considered as the motivational force behind the developmental process, it is existential issues which constitute a major content of the I-Me reflection. The second section outlines how existential-dialectic theory can inform a better theoretical understanding of psychodrama practice.
