ABSTRACT
This chapter begins with a look at the origins of my observations of reciprocity in my psychoanalytic psychotherapeutic clinical material and then progresses to an examination of the description by others of their clinical sessions to see whether it is possible to discern examples of reciprocity occurring even when the clinician has little knowledge of the concept. I ®rst reported the details of Kylie's sessions in an earlier article (Douglas, 2002).
