ABSTRACT
Development occurs within a context, and the most important context for children is the relationship. Tronick and Weinberg stated that the infant's
understanding of the world of objects, no matter how primitive, is dependent on establishing inter-subjective states with others and the mutual construction of meaning. Thus the establishment of social processes is the primary process of development and the understanding of the inanimate world is secondary to it.
