ABSTRACT
It is beyond contention that globalization, in the form of trade openness, is an important driver for economic growth. Economic growth, in turn, is a precondition for development, especially in less developed countries. The seemingly inexorable increase in poverty among plenty is also beyond dispute. The solution predicated by the supporters of the strategy of trade openness resonates highly in this volume that is dedicated to the challenges of globalization for the Third World.
