ABSTRACT

An enforcing authority may authorize suitable persons to exercise any of the following powers:

(a) to enter at reasonable times (or in emergency at any time) any premises which he has reason to believe it is necessary for him to enter (7 days’ notice required for residential premises);

(b) to take with him other persons and equipment (7 days’ notice to take heavy equipment);

(c) to make examination and investigations;

(d) to direct premises to be left undisturbed for the purpose of examination or investigation;

(e) to take measurements, photographs and take recordings for the purpose of examination and investigation;

(f) to take samples of any substances or of the air, water or land in and around premises;

(g) to subject to process or test any article or substance which appears to have caused or be likely to cause pollution of the environment or harm to human health;

(h) to take possession of substances etc., as in (g) above to examine it, ensure that it is not tampered with or to use as evidence;

(i) to require persons to give information; ( j) to require the production of records; (k) to require persons to afford facilities and assistance; (l) any other power necessary to carry out the purposes of entry.
