ABSTRACT
The last three decades of the twentieth century saw the growth of two very different trends in world politics that were anticipated by only a few politicians and writers before the 1970s. Although this book is concerned with political concepts and theories rather than with historical developments as such, these trends must be outlined because they have brought with them a new emphasis in political studies involving the concepts of ethnicity, multiculturalism and globalization.
