ABSTRACT
This is a (largely) alphabetical glossary of terms and people mentioned in the text,
giving additional background information, and offered here as a kind of philosophical
‘toolbox’. However, it is not intended to be either a comprehensive survey, or an
impartial one. Readers wanting to delve deeper will still wish to go on to some of
the sorts of book mentioned in the Reading Guide at the end of the book.
