ABSTRACT

By standing orders, and sensible self-protection as our base was on a deserted seashore, records were minimal and destroyed as soon as they were no longer of immediate use. After France was liberated, the Club des Pins was closed down. A FANY [First Aid Nursing Yeomanry] said to me that as she saw the last paper curl up in flames she realised that with it went the only record of two years of great interest and effort. It must be hoped that one day a senior Massingham officer will find time to record his or her memories.1
