ABSTRACT
Every school has a duty of care to its pupils. This means that the teaching assistant’s first responsibility, as that of all staff, is to ensure the safety and health of the children. It is important, therefore, for teaching assistants to become familiar with all aspects of health and safety – school policy, the staff who are trained First Aiders, who the school’s Health and Safety Representative is, and where all relevant equipment can be found.
