ABSTRACT
September 11 has been the major excuse for perpetrating unspeakable brutality on the world of Islam; the USA-led War on Terror has become a crusade of imperial terror against recalcitrant Muslim states, radical Muslims and, virtually, Islam itself. For Malaysia, which is neither recalcitrant nor radical but a state that constitutionally maintains Islam as its official religion, the impact of September 11 has been ironic rather than destructive.
