ABSTRACT

The Assessment Framework provides a systematic way of analysing, understanding and recording what is happening with children and young people within their families and the wider context within which they live (Figure 3.1). It focuses on three interrelated systems or domains: the child’s developmental needs, the capacity of the parents to respond to the child’s needs and the impact of any family or environmental factors on the child’s needs or the parenting capacity.
