ABSTRACT
The Islamic resurgence that has engulfed most Muslim countries today has thrown forth different levels of tension and competing ideologies within these societies, leaving Muslims to ask: what Islam and whose Islam is the right Islam? Very often, when answering this question, the status and rights of women become the first casualty in this battleground.
