ABSTRACT

Denmark’s re-establishment of diplomatic relations as one of the first Western countries in 1991 marked a substantial change and implicated the beginning of a unique position for the Baltic countries in Danish foreign policy. Bilaterally and through the regional organisations . . ., Denmark took a great responsibility upon itself in order to assist the former East Bloc countries in general and especially the three Baltic States.
