ABSTRACT

In order to do yourself justice, you should think beyond the title of the assignment. In the last chapter, we spent all our time unpicking it, making sure we knew what was being asked and defining the terms clearly for ourselves. That’s obviously important, because if you don’t know what it’s supposed to be about, how can you write it? But you also need to think of other things. Who’s it for? Who’s going to be reading it? How much information is available? What balance should there be between your own ideas and the opinions of the experts you may be quoting from?
