ABSTRACT
As a neuroscientist who came to medical writing and journalism via research and biomedical project management in mental health, I am familiar with the processes of both rigorous scientific enquiry, and what makes headlines – or at least a paragraph on an inside page, or a mention at the end of a news programme.
