ABSTRACT
Coverings to pitched roofs are normally in the form of small tile units, fixed to battens, which in turn are fixed to the rafters. Weatherproofing of the covering is provided by overlapping the tiles at their heads and bonding the tiles at their sides to provide a double lap. Alternatively, tiles may be single lap and use an overlapping joint at the side or a patent edge fixing to adjacent tiles.
