ABSTRACT
The purpose of the research presented in this volume is to find out how decisionmaking processes in urban regions are framed in order to achieve innovative urban developments. The focus is on a systematic comparison of experiences with strategic urban development projects. Their analysis and critical assessment is based on a complex set of dimensions of institutional capacity-building that are deemed crucial for the achievement of integrated urban quality goals.
