With the Main Scale now having only six points, teachers quickly reach the point at which they become eligible to cross the threshold. At such a major point, this is an important time to review your longer-term goals and to check on your career path. What options are still open to you, and what routes are either now closed or more difficult to follow? There are many different career options: progress through the three points of the upper pay spine, look for an opening either as an Advanced Skills Teacher or on the Excellent Teacher Scheme, or a move on to the Leadership Scale as either an assistant head or deputy head.
