Major themes in student learning

This chapter introduces a number of important concepts and findings in student learning. The book draws upon the student learning literature to make a critical analysis of current issues and practice in distance and open learning. At this stage the concepts are introduced and key findings briefly discussed. When the concepts are drawn upon in subsequent chapters, there is an expanded account of relevant findings.
