ABSTRACT
Before the reforms, China had practically no pharmaceutical manufacturing industry. Most chemical medicines were imported or reprocessed from imported raw drugs. Now, after years of economic growth, China not only has built a pharmaceutical manufacturing system but has become a major exporter of bulk chemical pharmaceuticals to other countries, given China’s strength in this area.
