Who needs a School Improvement Partner?: Critical friend or Trojan collaborator?

The school improvement partner is a key element in the NRwS jigsaw. Whether it is justifiable to describe this role as that of ‘critical friend’ is the focus of this chapter. Drawing on what has been written and researched about critical friendship a number of questions are addressed, most significantly for schools at risk of ‘improvement notice’ and possible closure.
