ABSTRACT

Drama lessons are often greatly admired when taught by drama specialists, but other teachers, even English teachers, have a great fear of drama. This is understandable if you have not been trained to teach this subject and these fears are exacerbated in challenging classrooms because of the problems of behaviour management. It is hard enough to keep the pupils on task with the formal layout of chairs and desks but in a drama lesson these formal ‘props’ are absent. If you actually dare to take children into the drama room there will be no possibility of regaining control through writing at desks.
