ABSTRACT
Acoustics is the science of sound, and sound is of course an important element of everyday life. There are however two opposite facets of sound. On the good side, sound is an important instrument for communication, via speech, and is a medium to convey enjoyment, through music and other desirable soundscape. Since the passage of sound is significantly affected by the surrounding environment, good acoustic design of a built environment is essential to avoid degrading the functioning and the enjoyment of sound.
