ABSTRACT

This chapter describes different forms of visualization that illustrate the results of computer-generated simulations. The simulations can, for example, demonstrate the appearance of buildings before construction or analyze their technical mode of operation under different conditions. The need to handle large amounts of data increases concurrently with greater usage of ICT (Information Communication Technologies) tools to handle and simulate more aspects of buildings (hence, nD modeling), be it an imaginary mode of operation planned during the design phase, planning of the production, or the use and operation of the building. Since man possesses the ability to visually handle large amounts of information, it is obvious and expected that different visualization techniques are increasingly used among actors, authorities, users, and decision makers within the building industry.
