ABSTRACT
Uninß ected parts of speech are those that neither decline nor conjugate. They consist of adverbs (9.1), prepositions (9.2), conjunctions (9.3) and particles (9.4).
The main function of adverbs is to qualify verbs, although they can also be used to qualify adjectives and even other adverbs. An adverb is normally placed immediately before the word it qualiÞ es (see 20.1.3).
