ABSTRACT

It is widely acknowledged that ICT has an increasingly important role to play in education in general and the teaching and learning of foreign languages in particular. In the space available it is not possible to do justice to the myriad of possibilities stretching from the use of (digital) audio and video recordings, computer-assisted language learning (CALL) software, such as text manipulation programs, to delayed-(asynchronous) and real-time (synchronous) computer-mediated communication such as email, chat and audio-and videoconferencing. In order to be able to go beyond very superficial treatment of the wide-ranging field of ICT tools and applications, I focus here on web-based project-and partner-finding resources as well as on so-called tracks and webquests.
