ABSTRACT
As with most Western nations, the Italian armed forces have been subject to ongoing reforms since the end of the Cold War. The gradual disappearance of a direct threat to its national security and the engagement in new types of missions requiring inter-force projection and intervention capabilities for the resolution of international crises have played a significant role in the transformation of Italy’s armed forces.
