ABSTRACT

What is it like to teach in a remote outpost of a foreign higher education program? This chapter explores the experience of locally employed teaching staff, who are in most cases working for a partner institution that is contracted to provide specific services to the awarding institution and are as a result several steps removed from the home campus, and the experiences of teaching staff of the awarding institution, who may fly in to conduct concentrated bursts of teaching to students in their institution’s foreign outposts.
