Objective finding, fact finding and problem finding/definition

Establishing and defining the problem is probably the most important stage of the creative problem solving process, for unless the problem is correctly defined it is unlikely that a truly satisfactory solution can be found. Einstein is reputed to have said that if he had one hour to save the world he would spend fifty-five minutes defining the problem and five minutes finding the solution (Wilson, 1997).
