ABSTRACT

Right back at the beginning of this book, in Chapter 1, I noted that I was going to take it as given that truth is objective in the following sense: for at least most of the propositions about the world that you believe, your thinking that they are true does not make them true. As I said there, whether or not the world is round has nothing to do with whether or not we think that it is, but simply depends upon the shape of the earth.
