ABSTRACT

How does the research compare between teachers and students? This research provides, for the first time, insights into how the concept of leadership evolves in individuals from the age of five years to adulthood, against the background of influences from parents, teachers, peers, the media and society generally. It also suggests that the culture and context of a profession influences our perception of leadership. This new learning and understanding about leadership and how it is developed, or not, is summarised here, and results in a new way forward for schools to develop the next generation of leaders.
