ABSTRACT

Young people today live in a different world from the one that we lived in when we were young. The 1980s created a ‘me’ culture that has resulted in what seems to be a huge rise in bullying. Child crime has risen as mobile phones and iPods are sought after. Many children are much more vocal and say what they want, but they also need to look beyond their own interests. Others need to change from feeling helpless and being bullied to taking responsibility for their own needs. Now, more than at any other time, what is required is a learning environment that develops capable individuals with values and responsibilities. I feel passionate about this.
