ABSTRACT
Values assumed renewed prominence within political discourse following the
demise of Soviet Communism and the post-11th September challenge of state-
less network actors. Fukuyama’s ‘end of history’ thesis based on the ascendancy
of liberalism has also been challenged by movements contesting neo-liberal
economics and techno-science. To McMurty these are Value Wars (2002) struc-
tured by the global extension of Western technocratic order.
